Your field of responsibility

The Financial Crime & Regulatory Investigations Officer is responsible for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Terrorist Financing (TF) investigations in the UK and across the wider EMEA region. It will report to the Head of EMEA FCC Surveillance and Investigations and is an outstanding opportunity for an individual with experience in Financial Crime Compliance to join this exciting and dynamic team.

This role assists in review of escalations and, completion and coordination of complex financial crime investigations especially where there is a multi-location/multi-product nexus. These activities originate from adverse news name screening alerts, transaction surveillance alerts, internal escalations, and regulatory investigations. With respect to investigations, candidates will be responsible for undertaking research and analysis to assist in determining whether circumstances fall within defined criteria, particularly the threshold for statutory reporting, and must be able to formulate and communicate the results of these enquiries, both verbally and in writing, to peers not only within the 2nd Line of Defence, but also senior managers and risk owners in the Business Divisions.

Responsibilities will also include (but not be limited to)

  • Undertaking financial crime investigations to make assessment recommendations in line with the relevant impacted countries’ regulatory reporting obligations for SAR/STRs to the MLRO/Nominated Officer to review and approve.
  • Undertaking top-level review of transaction monitoring alerts and adverse news name screening ‘hits’ on client accounts generated by automated surveillances.
  • Supporting the management of output from our offshoring centres including escalations, quality control, feedback and training where required.
  • Reviewing ‘payment approvals’ for AML/financial crime concerns from the business and front office support.
  • Extensive investigations for money laundering/terrorist financing which may potentially lead to Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR).
  • Manage ad hoc initiatives such as amendments to policies and procedures, delivering related training to the business and other interested parties.
  • Recommending and driving process change and improvements to the exiting transaction surveillance model.

You will also be expected to support the FCC Senior Management Team on various ad-hoc projects when requested.

EMEA Financial Crime & Regulatory Investigations is a London-based team within the EMEA Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) function of the Credit Suisse. The team works collaboratively with the Investment Banking, International Wealth Management and Asset Management Divisions to identify and report suspected financial crime. Your skills and experience

We are looking for

The expectation is that to undertake the role, the incumbents should have proven experience working in a relevant financial crime position within financial institutions.

  • The incumbent should preferably be educated to degree level or have an appropriate FCC qualification such as an ICA Diploma in Financial Crime.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory and legislative requirements for the relevant financial crime disciplines including AML/CTF, sanctions, ABC and Tax Evasion, with special focus on the UK SARs regime.
  • Experience of complex and multi-jurisdiction financial crime investigations to conclusion.
  • An inquisitive person with an investigative attitude, who is willing to learn.
  • Proven ability to prioritise, assimilate procedures, engage with business partners and undertake research.
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to undertake research and come to appropriate conclusions and present complex findings.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and good attention to detail.
  • Outstanding communication and organization skills.
