Compliance Analyst – American Express, Brussels

As a Compliance Analyst you will be part of the local Market Compliance Team supporting the Market Compliance Officer.

Your role will include the following tasks & activities

  • Manage and update of AML and other Compliance related policies and procedures, formalize guidelines and (ad hoc) communications and training towards American Express employees
  • Assessment of customers identified as “Politically Exposed Person – PEP” or clients for which it has been outlined the need to perform further verifications from an AML standpoint
  • Provide support within the transaction monitoring framework such as investigation and analysis of suspicious activity reports, transaction monitoring alerts, and referrals on potential money laundering / terrorism financing / fraudulent activities
  • Advice the business in Compliance related matters that impact the day-by-day activities
  • Contribute to the overall Compliance Program such as the compliance risk assessment, compliance monitoring
  • Participate to Compliance reporting (local, regional and global)
  • Provide support on day-to-day tasks
  • Participation within projects

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experiences

  • Previous experience in the role with knowledge of the basic Compliance concepts is an asset
  • Good knowledge of AML laws and regulations
  • Good analytical skills and attitude for problem solving approach
  • Any previous experience in the field of customer monitoring, also for Credit purposes constitutes a plus
  • Fluent Dutch/French and English language, written and spoken
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Proactive approach, ability to work in a team in a collaborative manner, with a focus on the results
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously, under pressure with multiple tasks and uphold high integrity and confidentiality
