Anti-Bribery and Corruption Compliance Officer – ING, Amsterdam

The opportunity

This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced Anti-Bribery and Corruption (AB&C) professional to join the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) team, which is part of the global Corporate Compliance department (based in Amsterdam). The position of Anti-Bribery and Corruption Compliance Officer is identified as an expert role with a strong focus on skills to take things on and make it happen.

The Team

The FCC AB&C team is responsible for setting ING’s Group approach for the management of bribery and corruption risks. We do this as part of ING’s commitment to conduct business in an honest, prudent, and responsible manner, providing transparency to and for stakeholders and to comply with laws and regulations. FCC AB&C provides risk stewardship and challenge, facilitates centralised oversight and a robust culture of compliance.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Using your strong communication and people skills, combined with organisational sensitivity to convey complex messages in a concise and simple way. You are able to bring adherence to “why” change is required to achieve effective management of AB&C risks
  • Enriching our way of working with your adherence to, and understanding of, the highest professional analytical standards and risk identification, assessment and mitigation techniques;
  • Showing you are a creative and curious professional who is looking forward to work on enhancing the AB&C preventive framework as part of a small team;
  • Developing a structured approach to AB&C policy framework and supporting materials as part of our response to the identified risks;
  • Monitoring significant developments and/or changes in relevant laws, regulations and good business practices, and on significant internal developments which may have an impact on the bribery and corruption risk profile of ING Bank;
  • Engaging stakeholder groups, forming virtual communities and working together with them to achieve the goal and progress the anti-bribery and corruption roadmap and strategic objectives worldwide;
  • Acting as an ambassador for the FCC domain in general, and the mission, way of working and deliverables of the FCC AB&C team in particular.

  • Possesses a thorough understanding of relevant bribery and corruption typologies, preventive/detective controls and functional oversight methods,
  • Has at least 5 years of proven experience in the (international) compliance/financial crime compliance domain, having spent time working on ABC framework design, implementation and oversight;
  • Is proficient in analysing complex non-financial risks and threats;
  • Is quick to understand the business context across sectors, geographies and organisational complexity;
  • Is able to see things from various different perspectives; we expect you are an independent thinker with a critical mindset;
  • Is people-focused; connecting and interacting with others is something that comes naturally to you;
  • Has excellent writing and presenting skills. Experience with stakeholder management is preferable;
  • Is confident, result driven and seeks to find innovative and new creative solutions;
  • Is fluent in English and Dutch;
