On Wednesday 2 October, the FIOD arrested two men in The Hague and searched a home in two criminal investigations. A 33-year-old man with no known permanent residence or abode is suspected of tax fraud, the 27-year-old from Nijmegen of money laundering. Both men were taken in for questioning. A home in The Hague was searched and data carriers, an expensive watch, approximately 23,000 euros in cash and an expensive car were seized. A firearm with associated ammunition, other ammunition and laughing gas cartridges that were also found in the home were handed over to the police.
Olukoyede Charges CITN on Exposing Tax Evaders

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has called on the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, CITN, to research deeper into the activities of individuals and corporate entities evading payment of taxes in Nigeria, describing them as posing threat to the growth and development of the country.
He gave the charge in Abuja on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 while receiving the management team of the CITN led by its President, Mr. Samuel Agbeluyi, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Commission’s corporate headquarters. According to him, digging deeper into the issues of tax evasion and avoidance will unearth facts that can be used to tackle them thereby raising the revenue profile of the country.
Mirjam van Praag reappointed to DNB’s Supervisory Board

Prof. Mirjam van Praag has been reappointed to the Supervisory Board of De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) effective from 1 October 2024. Minister of Finance Eelco Heinen, representing the Shareholder, decided this on the recommendation of the Supervisory Board.
