Lt Gov of New York resigns after indictment on campaign finance

The lieutenant governor of New York, Brian Benjamin resigned on Tuesday after federal prosecutors unsealed an indictment accusing him of using illegal contributions to enrich his political campaigns.

The charges follow Mr Benjamin’s indictment under bribery, fraud and falsification charges while he was a state senator.
