LATEST: Europol warns decision to delete data will ‘impact’ agency’s ability to probe complex cases including anti-financial crime efforts

The European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) has ordered Europol to delete data held on individuals with no established link to criminality, following a 2019 inquiry. 

European Data Protection Supervisor Wojciech Wiewiórowski said that there had been “no significant progress” made by Europol to address a “core concern that Europol continually stores personal data about individuals”.
