Former Austrian vice-chancellor and far-right leader handed suspended sentence after corruption verdict

Former Austrian vice-chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache has been convicted of corruption following one of the nation’s most high-profile political scandals in years.

Strache – who led the far-right Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) for over a decade – was handed a 15-month suspended jail sentence in a Vienna court Friday.
