Binance to invest in Compliance roles as US regulatory scrutiny grows

By Elizabeth Hearst for AMLi

Global cryptocurrency exchange Binance is expected to go on a hiring spree to bolster its Compliance team, as the company grapples with increased scrutiny from US regulators over money laundering concerns.

The company’s chief executive, Changpeng “CZ” Zhao said recruitment was his number one priority.

Speaking to Bloomberg, Mr Zhao said he was “spending almost all of (his) time” on recruiting those in Compliance and Regulation. He added that he was “not really involved in the day-to-day operations of the exchange”.
